The Department of Youth Resources and Sports organised the very first District-level Youth Festival at Meluri on 12th September 2025, at the Village Council Hall, Meluri.
The historic event was held under the initiative of the District Youth Resource Officer Phek, Chubarenla Longchari, marking a new chapter in the district’s youth engagement and cultural promotion.
DYRO Phek, Chubarenla Longchari, expressed the importance of youth festivals in nurturing talent, promoting traditional art forms, and fostering unity among young people. She expressed the importance of the event being the very first District-level Youth Festival at Meluri after becoming a district.
The Festival has set a promising foundation for empowering and celebrating the youth of Meluri.
The highlights of the day included competitions of Declamation, Folk songs and Folk Dances. The winners of the following competition are as follows: Tsüno Venue, from St. Xavier Higher Secondary School Meluri for the Declamation Competition. Folk song by Goverment Higher Secondary School Meluri and Folk Dance by Christian Higher Secondary School, Meluri.
Earlier, Virhethsu Nyusou, G/Teacher, GHSS Meluri, invoked God's blessings and the programme was chaired by Angelo Pfithu, NSS Programme Officer, GHSS Meluri.
