The 5th edition of the Inter-Department Badminton Tournament kicked off on 8th August 2025 at Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Stadium, Kohima.
Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland & President, Directorate of School Education Club, Dr. Kevizakie Rio, graced the inaugural function of the Inter- Departmental Badminton Tournament while speaking he reminder the gathering " All work and no play makes Jack dull" and encouraged the participants representing various departments to stay active by engaging in healthy games. He also lauded the Inter-Departmental Badminton Club (IDBC) Kohima for organizing the tournament at Kohima since 2021. He also encouraged the department officials to cultivate good coordination with each other for optimizing human resources in serving the people. He concluded his sharing by wishing the participants to give its best and enjoy every match.
In his presidential address, Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu, President of IDBC, stated that the Inter-Departmental Badminton Tournament was formed in the year 2020. Following the formation of the club, IDBC took the initiative to organize the tournament.
The objective and vision behind the tournament, is to create a platform for all officers, staff, and Heads of Departments (HoDs) to come together to get to know each other, interact, have healthy discussions, and break away from their busy schedules.
The President of IDBC officially declared the tournament open.
Other highlights of the program included a special number presented by Elike Shohe. Rev. Dr. Kevichalie Metha, Pastor, of Paraciezie Baptist Church, Kohima invoked God's blessings while Nokchasashi (NCS) Addl. Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, and Vice President of IDBC delivered the vote of thanks. The function was chaired by Tsutsowe Kupa (NCS) Finance Secretary of IDBC. A total of 61 teams from various departments are participating in the tournament.
