The 79th Indian Independence day was observed in Longleng with Advisor, Treasuries and Accounts, Art and Cultural, Konngam Konyak, as the Special Guest at the Public Ground, Longleng on 15th August 2025.
Konyak hoisted the National flag, which was followed by the national anthem led by 12th NAP IR Chingtok band party. He also inspected the ceremonial parades contingent, delivered the Independence day speech and took Rashtriya salute from the 9th parade contingent comprising of DEF Longleng, 12th NAP IR Chingtok, Band party 12th NAP IR Chingtok, Village Guard Pongo, Yingli Collage, Bautung Government Higher Secondary School, St. Joseph High school and PhomLempong School, led by the parade commander, District Commandant H/G Longleng, Chibeni Ezung.

After the programme, the special guest visited the exhibition stalls setup by various departments.
The highlight of the day-long programme included a patriotic song presented by the students of JNV, demonstration of Taekwondo, and Folks dance performed by Pongching Cultural Troupe. Tug of war matches, both male and female, were played between various departments and wards representatively.
Earlier, the programme was compered by Asst. Professor, Mhayano A. Odyuo and Asst. Professor, Manngai H. Phom.
During the occasion, the Branch Manager SBI Longleng, Co-operative bank Longleng and Forest Department visited the Eastern Blind Home, Rehabilitation Centre, District Jail and Old Age home.
