Deputy Chief Minister, Home & Border Affairs, Yanthungo Patton inaugurated the Office Of The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (ex-officio) Pungro at Pungro Town, Kiphire on 15th August 2025, in presence of Advisor, Home Guards and Civil Defence, Fire & Emergency Services, Relief and Rehabilitation, S. Kiusumew Yimchunger.
The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Videlalie Zashumo, IPS Inspector General of Police (ADM), Temsuwati Longkumer, Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Chinese Chakhesang, NPS, Superintendent of Police, Kiphire and a host of senior government officials and NGOs.
In his inaugural address, the Minister thanked the people of Pungro area for continuous support towards the administration and maintenance of Law & Order. While expressing concern that issues related to compensation and the land ownership system have remained major hurdles to swift development in the Naga context, the Minister urged that the people should instead contribute positively towards developmental initiatives. The newly inaugurated office will continue to function from the existing old office building, which is in a dilapidated condition. As such, the Deputy Chief Minister assured that construction of a new office building would be taken up at the earliest possible time.
