Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, NCS, has issued an order stating that, in order to streamline and improve traffic management in Kohima Town, commercial taxis shall not be allowed to enter from Lower PWD Junction and exit from Middle Midland Junction near Oking Hospital between 09:00 AM and 05:00 PM on all days, with immediate effect. This order is issued in the public interest, and the general public is requested to extend full cooperation with the authorities for successful implementation.

In another order, the Deputy Commissioner stated that rampant unauthorized parking of vehicles along the roadsides in Kohima Town has been reported, causing obstruction to the movement of vehicles. In the interest of better traffic management, the road from Fira Hotel to Assamese Church under Jail Colony, Ward-19, has been declared a “No Parking Zone” on all days, with immediate effect. Any defaulting vehicles shall be towed at the expense of the vehicle owners and will be liable for penalty under Section 179 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
