The Wokha Town Council (WTC) formally inaugurated its Daily Open Market for vendors during a ceremony held on 6th August 2025, at the newly constructed marketing shed in Wokha.
The market was officially inaugurated by Member of Legislative Assembly, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe, who in his address urged councillors to foster mutual coordination and understanding in order to accelerate grassroots development across Wokha town. He emphasized the need for collaborative leadership to enhance infrastructure and create inclusive opportunities for local vendors.
EO, WTC and Additional Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Renbomo Ezung, delivered a short speech expressing appreciation to the WTC Councillors for initiating and completing the construction of the marketing shed. He also appealed to citizens to maintain cleanliness in the area and utilize the facility efficiently for daily trade and public benefit.
The program featured a brief report presented by K. Lidemo Murry. The welcome address and vote of thanks were delivered by Deputy Chairperson of WTC, Nzano P. Kikon, and Councillor K. Thungchibemo Murry respectively.
The inauguration marks a significant step towards improving structured market access for daily vendors and reinforcing the district's commitment to inclusive urban development.
