The Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme 2025 with the theme “Emergency Period in India” was held at the Jubilee Memorial College Hall, Aongza Ward, Mokokchung on 6th August 2025. It was organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, National Service Scheme & Department of Political Science, JMC in collaboration with the District Youth Resource & Sports Office Mokokchung.
The event featured youth-centred competitions on youth parliament and debate.
Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma IAS, graced the programme as the Special Guest where he urged the students to be true leaders with the determination to fight the crisis and to lay the foundation for the future generations, highlighting the importance of the Indian constitution which he considered as the Apex Legal Document for the nation. He also encouraged the students to be curious enough to understand the entire structure of the political system, laws and the constitution. He stresses the value of fundamental rights and duties and the importance of diversity in shaping a strong nation.
The competition on Youth Parliament on the theme “Emergency Period in India” was won by Imlibenla , Nikili and Menangniba with first, second, and third positions respectively from Ruling Bench while Riya Dey, Longcha, Wapangtola from Opposition Bench won the first, second and third positions respectively. Debate competition on the theme “Emergency Period in India” was won by Sashikumzuk, Imnatula and Sentipongla in first, second and third positions respectively.
The programme was chaired by HoD & Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Chubaienla Imchen. The Welcome Speech was delivered by District Sports Officer Mokokchung, Zhopovi Zecho. Samuel, a student of BA 3rd Semester presented a special song. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by HoD & Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, Bendangwabang.
