The Department of Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection (LMCP), Wokha, in collaboration with the Consumer Rights Organization Wokha, successfully conducted a Consumer Awareness Programme on 22nd September 2025. The initiative was held across four educational institutions: Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Mt. Tiyi College Wokha; Witter Theological College Wokha; Springdale School Wokha; and Bethsaida School Wokha. The programme was organized under the theme, "Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection: The Journey towards Viksit Bharat – 2047."

The keynote address was delivered by Assistant Controller, LMCP Wokha, T. Aimong.  In his speech, he urged the business community to uphold ethical practices and honesty in trade. He also encouraged youth, students, and civil society members to become champions of consumer rights, emphasizing the need for every citizen to remain vigilant, informed, and courageous in standing up for fairness and justice.

Member of the District Consumer Redressal Forum, Wokha, Surenthung Enny, served as the resource person. He highlighted the six fundamental consumer rights, stressing their importance in empowering individuals and preventing unfair trade practices. His address underscored the role of informed consumers in shaping a transparent and accountable marketplace.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Inspector, LMCP Wokha, Silo Jemu who expressed gratitude to all participating institutions and stakeholders for their support and engagement.

This initiative reflects a growing commitment to consumer education and protection, especially among young students. By bringing awareness campaigns into academic spaces, the Department aims to cultivate a generation of informed and responsible citizens who will uphold consumer rights and contribute to a fairer, more ethical society.
