The Jo Foundation Inclusive School celebrated its Parents Day cum Cultural Day at RCEMPA Jotsoma, under the theme ‘Celebrating Tradition, Talent and Togetherness’ on 11th October 2025.
Secretary & Chairperson NBSE (Addl. Charge), Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, who graced the occasion as the special invitee said “being a parent is one of the greatest joy on this earth, but with that joy, also comes along with many big responsibilities that needs to be fulfil”, and urged the parents to give their best by spending quality time with their children to cherish them. He also shared that lack of quality time with our children would lead to disconnection, affecting the growth of the child, in academia, social economic or emotional life.
Expressing his appreciation to the students for their performances and showcasing the rich cultural traditions of each tribe, exhibiting their talents and performing together as a team, he said our state having a very rich culture and tradition can be seen through these vibrant colours, dances and songs providing diversity which ends in unity.
He also highlighted the importance of preserving our culture as our identity and knowing one’s own mother tongue and urged that children should be guided and moulded to know how to sing folk songs, dance folk dances, interpret folk songs, and know their respective festivals so that they are connected to their culture, tradition and roots.
Rangumbuing Nsarangbe also emphasising on the National Education Policy 2020 on language development and skill development of the children, he said in this age of technology, just a mere academic degree will not suffice today and pointed out that to survive in this competitive age, our children need to be equipped with lot of skills, life skills and basic Life Skills. He therefore called upon the parents to introspect and put their heads together for their children’s future and also asked the students to try learning new skills every day, have the ability to speak and communicate friendly and to express their ideas and thoughts eloquently.
During the programme, Deputy Chairperson, Kohima Municipal Council, Khrielievi Chusi also spoke on behalf of the parents, while the Chairman and Proprietor of Jo Foundation Inclusive School Kohima (JFIS), Daniel Thong Seb delivered the welcome address. Administrator, JFIS Kohima, Keyokhole Ltu Lcho proposed the vote of thanks and Headmistress, JFIS Kohima, Kupe-u Kupa compered the programme.
The Parents Day cum Cultural Day was marked with performance and vibrant display of rich traditional songs, Naga indigenous games, folk dances, dramas and chorus exhibited by the school children that had enriched not only children but the parents as well about the rich diverse culture and tradition of the people.
