The Department of Social Welfare, Dimpaur District, in collaboration with GHSS Lengrijan, organized an awareness programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (Drug-Free India Campaign) on August 13, 2025 Dimpaur.
The programme was chaired by Kalivi Zhimomi, Supervisor, and began with an invocation by Anungla Pongener, Graduate Teacher. This was followed by the NMBA pledge, led by Keneikesangulie Zumou, District Programme Officer of Social Welfare Department, Dimpaur reaffirming commitment towards building a drug-free society.
Highlighting the harmful effects of substance abuse, T. Meren Jamir, Residential Counsellor at ICRA Prodigals Home Dimpaur, delivered a talk on the theme “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life”. He urged students to choose healthy lifestyles and work together to eliminate drug abuse from society.
Jamir also encouraged them to choose healthy lifestyles and work collectively towards eliminating drug abuse from society. He urged the youth to look ahead, understand the direction in which the world is progressing, and to develop their own talents not solely aiming for government jobs.
He advised students to engage in meaningful interactions with their parents, siblings, and friends, and to spread awareness even within their own families. Stressing the isolating nature of addiction, Jamir noted that it disconnects individuals from everyone and everything. “Addiction has never been good and has never solved anything,” he stated, calling for a united stand against drug abuse.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Limasangla, CDPO, Dimpaur (U), where she urged all the students to take the online pledge.
