In Mon the 79th Indian Independence Day was celebrated with MLA & Advisor for Water Resources, Tongpang Ozukum as a special guest on 15th August 2025 held at Mon Local Ground.
The Advisor hoisted the National Flag and inspected the Parade contingents and read out the 79th Independence Day Message, followed by March Past by 16 contingents. Later, the Advisor inaugurated the Stalls set up by different societies and Government departments.
Activities of the programme included cultural songs by Guhching Village Cultural Troupe and Chen Union Mon Town. Special Numbers was presented by ‘The Owako’s Singers’. Exhibition match, tug of war- DPDB versus CSOs and 11 wards under Mon Town. Prize Distribution followed by display of band, and beating of Retreat Ceremony by the 6th NAP Pipe Band.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, K Hekato Sumi of 6th NAP Battalion, Tizit was the Parade Commander. The Parade Contingents were 6th NAP, Tizit; DEF Mon; Village Guards; Ex-Servicemen; GHSS “A” NCC, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (Scout), Don Bosco Higher Secondary School (Guides); Police Unit School; Angjong Mission School; St. Joseph’s School; GHSS Mon Town C; GHSS Mon Town D; GHSS, Mon Town A; Konjong Higher Secondary School “A:” and 6th NAP Pipe Band.
In commemoration of the 79th Independence Day celebration 2025, the Department of Economic & Statistic provided a free registration of a Birth Certificate for children below 1 (one) year . The Block Development Officer, Mon visited District Jail; NHIDCL visited District Hospital Mon; 100 RCC GREF visited Orphanage Home; EE, Power, Mon Division visited Old Age Home and the Department of Food & Civil Supplies Office, Mon visited District De-Addiction Centre, KBBB.
As a part of the celebration, national flags were hoisted in all Government Offices & Educational Institutions
