As part of the 79th India Independence Day celebrations, the Dimapur District Citizen Forum (DDCF) team, under the aegis of the Dimapur Administration, visited the Mother Teresa Charity Home at River Belt Colony, Notun Basti while The Managing Committee members of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Dimapur District, visited Silas Rehab Centre at Khashiram Village, Dimapur on 15th of August 2025.

During the DDCF’s visit, the team interacted with the residents and extended their support by donating essential food items. Despite limited resources, DDCF provided two bags of rice and a bag of pulses to the Charity Home. The gesture aimed to spread the spirit of compassion and community service on this significant national occasion. The event also reflected the team’s commitment to contributing towards the welfare of the underprivileged.

The IRCS Managing Committee members were warmly received by Arenla, Director of the Silas Care & Rehabilitation Society, along with the administrator and warden. A short programme was organised, during which Arenla delivered the welcome address. This was followed by an Independence Day address from IRCS Dimapur Honorary Secretary, K. K. Paul. Managing Committee member and Project Chairman, Kuldeep also shared a few words, after which IRCS Chairman, Chandu Agarwal spoke about the importance of the day and the purpose of their visit. He encouraged the inmates to be good citizens and assured them they are not alone, while appreciating the Silas Society’s efforts in care and rehabilitation. As part of the visit, the IRCS team handed over essential supplies including rice, pulses, potatoes, milk powder, tea leaves, mustard oil, bathing soaps, soya chunks, and sanitary pads.
