Joining the rest of the nation in commemorating India’s 79th Independence Day, Wokha District celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at the Public Ground, Wokha on 15th August 2025.

The celebration was graced by Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Government of Nagaland, as the special guest. Upon arrival, the Minister hoisted the National Flag, took the Rashtriya Salute, and delivered a stirring address to the gathering.

The ceremonial march past featured four parade contingents: DEF Wokha; 7th NAP; Home Guard and Civil Defence; Ex-Servicemen.  

As part of the celebration, the District Awards and District Commendation Certificates were presented to distinguished recipients by the special guest, in recognition of their exemplary service and contributions.

Following the formal program, the Minister inaugurated the exhibition stalls set up by various government departments and agencies, showcasing a wide range of products, services, and awareness materials. Participating departments included, Medical Department; Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA); Department of Agriculture; Department of Horticulture; Department of Employment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship; Department of Rural Development; Department of Animal Husbandry; ICAR-KVK Wokha; Wokha District Legal Services Authority (Legal Literacy Stall)  

The stalls featured informative pamphlets, locally crafted products, agricultural innovations, and skill development resources, reflecting the district’s commitment to inclusive growth and public engagement.

The event concluded with a renewed sense of unity, pride, and dedication to the ideals of freedom and development.
