The oath taking and induction ceremony of the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) for the tenure 2025–2030 was held at Dimapur Town Hall on 20th August 2025.
Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, in his address as the special guest extended deep appreciation and gratitude to the outgoing office bearers for their dedication, sacrifices, and relentless commitment in carrying out responsibilities with integrity and wisdom, even under challenging circumstances. Their service for the welfare of the people of Dimapur and their cooperation with the District Administration were also acknowledged.
Congratulating the newly inducted office bearers, he reminded them that leadership within NCD is not merely a position of status but a sacred responsibility to serve and represent the voice of the people with humility, courage, and vision. Leadership, he stressed, must be guided not by personal gain but by collective efforts to bring progress and development.
He noted that Dimapur, being a melting pot of diverse cultures and tribes, holds strategic importance socially, economically, and politically, not only for Dimapur but also for Nagaland as a whole. Chang said, NCD must continue to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the rights and interests of the people, while promoting peaceful coexistence, inter-community harmony, and cooperation with all stakeholders.
The DC further called upon the new team to lead with transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness, to empower the youth as future leaders, and to uphold the wisdom of elders. Every action, he emphasized, should be guided by responsibility, justice, and unity.
Delivering the presidential address, Etsungmomo Kikon, the outgoing President of NCD, highlighted key achievements from 2020 to 2025, including the adoption of a systematic burial system in Dimapur; representation in the District Planning & Development Board; celebration and blessing of the 75th Anniversary of Naga Council Dimapur; expansion of the new Naga Cemetery, and sanction of funds for the Council’s office building. He also reaffirmed the Council’s commitment towards world-class sports and development in Dimapur.
On challenges ahead, he touched upon the Indo-Naga political issue, the uneven implementation of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989 and its unintended consequences, concerns over the condition of Dimapur Railway Station, and the pressing matters of Inner Line Permit and illegal immigration.
The oath taking of new office bearers and councillors was administered by Hokuto Zhimomi, Chairman of the Nomination Committee. Rev. Dr. N. Paphino, President of BSI Dimapur Auxiliary, Christian Forum Nagaland, and NCRC & CRC International Council, led the dedicatory prayer for the new team.
