The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Noklak, under Mission Vatsalya of the Department of Social Welfare, Nagaland, organized a Sensitization and Awareness Program on Children Legislation and Different Child Protection Mechanisms at Khaokhan Council Hall, Noklak on 12th September 2025. The program was specially designed for Anganwadi Workers, Helpers, and ASHA workers, who play a crucial role at the grassroots level in safeguarding the rights and welfare of children.

Counsellor, CHL, DCPU, Tangnyu, chaired the programme. The program began with an invocation by Phaam, ASHA worker, followed by the keynote address delivered by Kito Ayemi, DCPO, Noklak, who highlighted the importance of child protection mechanisms and community participation in ensuring children’s safety.

Thaiming T, Supervisor, CHL, DCPU, presented on CHILDLINE 1098 services, emphasizing its round-the-clock availability for distressed children. This was followed by a session on Child Legislation by Manggol L. Phom, PO NIC, DCPU, who spoke on various legal frameworks safeguarding children.

An interactive Question Hour allowed participants to share concerns and seek clarifications, enhancing the practical understanding of child protection measures. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Hatho P, Project Coordinator, CHL, DCPU, and a benediction by Chongkoi K, Social Worker, DCPU.

The initiative aims to strengthen awareness among community-level workers and to equip them with knowledge about existing child protection mechanisms, thereby ensuring better safety and care for children in the district.
