In view of the Sub-National Immunization Day (SNID), Polio Day observed across the country was carried out in and around Noklak town on 12th October 2025 to create public awareness about the importance of immunizing children against polio. The Chief Medical Office set up a Polio immunization booth at various locations under Noklak District.
The first drop of oral polio vaccine under the district was given by SDO Civil Noklak, Vikhoto Richa in the presence of Chief Medical Officer Noklak, Dr. Victor NC, and other officials from the district. Health workers and volunteers actively participated in administering the vaccines and spreading awareness to the people.
The district has a target of 3025 children to be vaccinated across the district who are between zero to five years of age. The medical department had set up 54 immunization booth in the district. And on 13th and 14th October 2025, house to house campaign will be conducted to ensure that no children are missed out in the district.
The awareness drive aimed to inform parents and guardians about the administration of two drops of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to all children below five years of age. Officials highlighted that while India has been declared polio-free, the disease still exists in few countries, posing a potential risk of re-entry. The vaccination campaign is therefore essential to ensure continued protection and to maintain India’s hard-earned victory over polio.
