A team of 19 farmers from ATMA Tseminyu district accompanied by one ATMA official visited the ‘Banana Festival’ at Wokha district as part of farmers exposure visit on the 23rd Oct, 2025. The exposure visit was organised by the ATMA Tseminyu.
The team attended a technical session on the topic ‘advance post harvest management, processing and value addition technologies for circular economy in banana’. The resource person for the topic was Dr. KN Shiva, Principal Scientist ICAR, NRCB, who gave a thorough explanation on the importance of banana, and the various post harvest management and value added products that can be produced using the fruit, stem and leave. The session was very informative for all the participants.
The farmers also visited various stalls had a knowledgeable experience where they came to know about various varieties of banana, and the banana fibre extraction and use of the fibre in making bags, basket etc. Overall, the program was successful and valuable experience for all the participants.
